Our business
Cope Energy was established in 2019 to give businesses a clearer, more considered way to arrange their electricity and gas contracts.
Based in Tanworth-in-Arden, we support single-site businesses, multi-site businesses and businesses with complex energy requirements throughout the United Kingdom—where energy is an important commercial decision rather than an administrative afterthought.
How we think
Cope Energy can approach more than 30 suppliers, but access alone is not enough. We consider price structure, contract terms, supplier reliability, billing performance and how well an option fits the organisation in front of us.
Our role is to compare the suitable options, explain the material differences and give customers a recommendation they can understand. No unnecessary urgency. No unexplained list of rates. Just experienced commercial judgement and a clear next step.

Energy procurement lead
James has worked in the business energy market since 2011. He leads supplier comparisons, pricing and contract recommendations, using his market experience to help customers make properly informed decisions.
Director and client services lead
Hayley has worked in business energy since 2019. She oversees the commercial detail behind each account, from organising contracts and supplier communication to helping customers with billing and meter queries.

A personal note
I come from a family background of entrepreneurship. It taught me everything I know about business and then some—more so than my university degree ever did!
I know about the highs and the inevitable lows of running a business, so when I speak to fellow business owners, I truly understand what you’re going through day to day and the challenges you face.
My values are very old-school. They always have been and always will be. A fair day’s pay deserves a fair day’s work—and that is one of the foundations Cope Energy is built on.
James and I met whilst exploring a different business venture back in 2019, but after seeing the passion, knowledge and skill he had within the energy industry, we began discussing the idea of starting Cope Energy and running a brokerage the right way. The rest is history.
My laptop does not close until every single client has received a reply. My dogs hate me for it when their dinner is late, but that is simply how I am built.
My moral compass is strong, as is James’s. We respect and appreciate every client who trusts us with their business—and, in return, we do a bloody good job for them.
Yes, we’re small, but we choose to be small.
P.S. We hate socials. We are working on it, but if you are checking us out and find some out-of-date posts, it is because we are too busy doing what we do best… energy and running our business.
A personal note
Back in early 2019, when I wanted to set up Cope Energy, I spoke to the man I never make a big decision without consulting—my grandfather. His answer is something I’ve tried to live up to and never forgotten:
“Jim”—he’s the only person who ever called me that—“anyone who enters business to make a lot of money rarely does. Anyone who sets out to make a great product makes a lot of money.”
I’m very proud to have a business that provides a real, quantifiable service to my community of business owners in the UK. If you had a legal matter, you’d go to a solicitor for their opinion and their help—that’s the gap I look to bridge, but with energy.
We make money when we arrange your contracts, yes. But being honest, being available, having the right knowledge and being accountable to my clients—that’s the real “product”.
